Dr. Stephen Leslie, urologist in Amherst, Ohio Stephen W. Leslie, M.D. is a Board Certified urologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate disorders, incontinence, impotence and kidney stone disease. Dr. Leslie completed his undergraduate education at Queens College, City University of New York and went to Medical School at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico and at Nassau County Medical Center, State University of New York at Stony Brook. Postgraduate training, internship and residencies were completed at New York Medical College, Albany Medical Center and the Clinical Sciences Center of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine in Madison.

Dr. Leslie is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the Medical College of Ohio School of Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is Certified by the American Board of Urology and is an Active Member of the American Urological Association. Dr. Leslie has served as an Elected Member of the Executive Committee of the Lorain County Medical Society and Delegate to the Ohio State Medical Association. He is Past Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the Lorain Impotence Center and the Lorain Kidney Stone Research Center. Dr. Leslie is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation-Ohio Chapter, the Ohio Surgical Panel of the American College of Surgeons and the National Health Advisory Council. He has been an invited symposium participant at the National Institutes of Health and has served as a working group panel member for the National Workshop on Incontinence held at the National Institutes of Health in Washington. Dr. Leslie is the only Lorain County physician Certified by the National Association for Continence. He is a Urology Reviewer for KePRO of Ohio, which monitors health care quality for Medicare. The American Urological Association has designated Dr. Leslie a "Key Contact" and asked him to represent his profession to the United States Congress and the Ohio Legislature. He is the Urology Moderator for "Physicians Online", the world's largest Internet site for physicians and a contributing editor to "Health Watch" magazine. Dr. Leslie is Editor-In-Chief of the "EMEDICINE Urology Textbook which is the designated peer-reviewed medical website authorized by the National Library of Medicine to serve as the authoritative on-line medical reference source for health care professionals.

Dr. Leslie is the Urology Advisor to the National Council Against Health Fraud and a Consultant to LabCorp of America. He is the developer of the "CALCULUS" Kidney Stone Prevention Program, which uses computer analysis of chemical tests to evaluate the treatable risk factors of kidney stone patients. This "CALCULUS" Program has won the prestigious "Thirlby Award" of the American Urological Association. Dr. Leslie is currently doing research on kidney stone disease in cooperation with the Urology Departments of Wake Forest and Harvard Universities. He invented the patented Leslie "Parachute" Kidney Stone Basket, which is a major improvement in a tool commonly used by doctors to remove stones from the urinary tract. Dr. Leslie's book, The Kidney Stones Handbook, is a comprehensive guide for patients with stones and their families. He also serves as the kidney stone expert for UROLOGYCHANNEL.COM. Dr. Leslie has been selected as one of America's best physicians by the Consumers' Research Council of America, an independent consumer advocacy group based in Washington DC, and is listed in their current Guide to America's Top Physicians.

Dr. Leslie is one of the original founding members of the Lorain County Free Clinic which provides free medical care to the indigent in our community. He still serves as a Member of the Free Clinic Advisory Board as well as a participating physician. In 1990, Dr. Leslie was the first physician to successfully complete the Leadership Lorain County Program. He is the Winner of the Year 2000 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National Association for Community Leadership and Leadership Lorain County for his community service activities.

Dr. Leslie is a Clinical Reviewer for Contemporary Urology, a medical journal for urology specialists. He has written and published over 100 articles and textbook chapters for various medical publications and writes extensively for the lay public on medical issues. He has appeared on nationally syndicated radio and television programs and made numerous public appearances. He's been a regular guest on the "Morning Exchange" television program on WEWS-TV Cleveland discussing medical topics such as impotence and kidney stones. Dr. Leslie is well known for his popular patient education guide on male sexual dysfunction, called "Impotence: Current Diagnosis and Treatment", which has been widely distributed by various health organizations such as the American Diabetes Association and the American Urological Association. He has been teamed to the Education Panel of the American Foundation for Urological Diseases which prepares educational materials for the general public on urological disorders.

Dr. Leslie has privileges at Amherst Hospital in Amherst, Ohio and Community Health Partners in Lorain, Ohio.

He is married to Rosemary I. Moroni MD and they live in Lorain, Ohio.
